Apply for aid

To be considered for federal, state, and institutional need-based programs, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a need-analysis form. For full consideration, the FAFSA should be submitted to the processor by Illinois State's preferential filing date of March 1.

Regardless of whether or not you think you are eligible to receive aid, you are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA.

Here is more information on the types of aid that are available,

Use the electronic FAFSA

You are encouraged to submit the FAFSA form electronically by using the U.S. Department of Education’s, FAFSA on the Web, as it is the quickest and easiest way to complete the FAFSA. You may also want to review the application process at Illinois State University.

When will I receive my financial aid award notice?

Award notices for new freshmen begin going out in early April, provided you submit your FAFSA to the Federal Processor by the March 1 preferential filing date and any necessary documentation has been submitted to our office.

If you submit your FAFSA after March 1, your award notice will be mailed to you as soon as possible. The award notice will outline the various sources of aid used to create your award package such as grants and scholarships, loans, or employment in the form of earnings from a part-time job.
